Caring for full-grain leather

Our vegetable-tanned leather is built to endure. With minimal, deliberate care, your piece will soften, darken, and develop a rich patina unique to its lifetime of use.

Clean gently

Condition naturally

Dry naturally

Wipe away surface dust with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid synthetic chemical cleaners entirely to protect the natural grain.

Every six months, apply a light coat of natural beeswax conditioner using circular motions, then buff with a dry cotton cloth.

If exposed to heavy rain, let the leather dry slowly at room temperature. Keep away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking.

Common Queries

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the patina develop?

What if my leather gets wet?

Vegetable-tanned leather absorbs oils from your hands and exposure to sunlight, gradually deepening in color to create a rich, custom luster.

Do not panic. Gently blot excess moisture with a clean cloth and let it air-dry naturally. Never use a hairdryer or place it near a radiator.

Can I use commercial cleaners?

Why are there natural markings?

We strongly advise against synthetic soaps or oils. They strip the natural waxes and can permanently alter the hand-burnished edges of your Pellux piece.

Small scars, wrinkles, or color variations are not defects. They are the hallmark of full-grain hide, proving the leather was never sanded or corrected.
